Kassel
Kassel is located in the middle of Germany, close to the former inner-German border of GDR and West-Germany. Kassel is home to heavy industry such as Volkswagen, Rheinmetall, Bombardier and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. The history of this industry and the Kassel economy ranges from colonial exploitation and active participation in the genocide in Namibia, to the production of armaments essential to the war effort under National Socialism, forced labor, and labor migration from the 1960s onward.
